Caricatures as an art have a long history, the roots of which are deeply embedded in a time, which we left behind centuries ago. During that time, painters like Leonardo da Vinci used this form of the art.
A portrait where the very essence of a person or anything is embellished is known as a Caricature. In this form of the art, certain characteristics of the person or the thing are either exaggerated or simplified by the artist to give a deep meaning to the image. While on one hand, the Caricatures can be simple and whimsical, on the other hand they can also be exaggerated and wild. As a matter of fact, yet another attribute that can be attached to a Caricature is the sense of complement or that of an insult. The magic really lies in the master strokes of the artists.
Caricatures as an art have a long history, the roots of which are deeply embedded in a time, which we left behind centuries ago. During that time, painters like Leonardo da Vinci used this form of the art. Yet another artist to use the art was Gian Lonrenzo Bernini. There were many other many other renowned Caricature artists in the following times. However, there is another opinion about the evolution of this art form, which states that Caricatures evolved from the Italian word ‘Caricare’, which means ‘to load’. It therefore essentially means that the duty of a Caricature artist is to load the embellished images with as much meaning as possible.
The art in recent times has earned popularity due to the evolution of the business market of gifts where the Caricatures form the most meaningful gift among t he odds and can be a lifetime treasure for the person receiving the gift. Thanks to the blend of new technology with the old art!
